Gate Systems

The gate is the hardest working part of any fence; every opening puts the same load back through the hinges, the track and the motor.

The first question when choosing a gate is not how it looks but how wide the opening is and how the ground behaves. Across a wide opening a swing gate needs a large arc to travel through and its own weight pulls it down off the hinges, so at those spans a sliding gate gives the better result.

With a motorised gate the groundwork matters as much as the gate itself. The motor cable, the photocell line and the push-button conduit have to be laid before the gate goes in; a channel cut afterwards damages the concrete surface and adds cost to the job.
